Cancun Real Estate - Benefits of Being Mexico's 1 Tourism Spot

Why is Cancun real estate a top choice for American and Canadian expats? Pretty much for the same reasons that Cancun continues to be, year after year the #1 choice for American tourists. This fact brings many benefits to all buyers of Cancun beachfront real estate.

The designation was evaluated as the preferred international destination for U.S. tourists once again in 2010 by a report from "Orbitz," one of the most important agencies for world travel.

Cancun's appeal is not only increasingly strong, but also resilient to the drastic changes that effect other locations. It has retained the #1 spot for 2010, despite noticeable shifts in tendencies for travel.

While warm weather and nice beaches remain the #1 motivations for U.S. travelers, Cancun is set aside from the ever-growing number of destinations which offer these by combining what many consider to be the world's most beautiful beaches with the best of modern conveniences, including golf courses, modern shopping malls, international restaurants and one of the most important airports not only for Mexico, but the entire Caribbean region.

These same factors mean that Cancun beachfront for sale holds a very strong attraction for American and Canadian buyers. Besides sharing the same attractions, the area's ongoing strength in tourism draws large amounts of investment from around the world. New investment means more services, more conveniences, better roads, and more excellent real estate options for buyers to choose from.

Numbers reflect this fact. Cancun and the surrounding area are estimated to be home to about 50,000 U.S. expats, in addition to Canadians. This makes it one of the most significant expat populations in Mexico and beyond. This fact also serves as an attraction for North American buyers who can live with the comfort of having many neighbors from back home, while slowly easing into and getting to know Mexican culture. It also means English is also widespread - not only because of the number of Americans and Canadians, but also because of the large number of Mexicans who work in tourism or learn English out of curiosity about the ever increasing number of American neighbors the come across.

In the Orbitz ranking, Cancun solidly won out over London, Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), Paris, Toronto, Niagara Falls and Roma all of which were in the top 10 and have long history of American tourism.

Explore Vietnam Holidays, an Amazing Place to Visit

What a beautiful country Vietnam is! I know--you are shaking your head as you think back to other times when war and strife dominated the perception of this country. However, the country is opening up to the world and one of the best times to take advantage of the opportunity to explore would be with Vietnam holidays.

Our holiday rituals are fairly set for most people--we all have certain traditions and practices that have been developed over years. Yet, the world is a changing and ever-growing place--and, all of these traditions and practices abound in many other places. Why not take a tour of a different country and learn another culture? There are many types of Vietnam holidays one could pursue--there are beaches to explore and diving trips to take, there are mountains that offer fantastic bicycling and kayaking trips, and one can motorcycle around the many different countryside trails and sites. There is a whole culture of people that can bring perspective to the explorer as well as open the eyes of the "explored." Each set of people certainly benefit from the exchange.

I highly recommend making a commitment to exploring Vietnam holidays. Right now is just the beginning of the exploration of this country and the "opening up" to the rest of the world. The climate and environment are beautiful and rich and the culture is quite diverse. There is a strong sense of community and tradition that is not unlike your own cultural background. Additionally, the cuisine that is available is not quite the same as that of other Asian countries. There are certain dishes and preparations that are unique to this land. Also, fashions and decor have a singular identity that is not found in many other instances.

There is a lot of places one could travel to, but I am enamored with the thought of going to a place that was not available to be learned about not so long ago. Now, there is an entire culture just waiting to be discovered by other modern societies and to contribute to the "melting pot" of the world. Branch out and make your Vietnam holidays some of your best experiences!

Native American Tourism Showcased

A delegation from seven tribes is heading to Germany this week as part of the American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association’s (AIANTA) international plan to promote tourism in Indian Country. The tribal delegation 27 members and their businesses will be spotlighted in the Discover America Pavilion over five days at ITB Berlin, the world’s leading travel trade show. The event lasts from March 9th to the 13th.

“Tourism allows us to introduce America’s First Nations to the world, and international visitors flock to our homelands,” said Tina Osceola in a press release, president of AIANTA’s board of directors and an executive officer for the Seminole Tribe of Florida. “Tribal tourism provides a cultural platform for international visitors to see, hear and engage with Indian people in an authentic way that only we can offer.  We’re creating greater exposure for foreign travelers to visit Native America, and working to expand our marketshare in international tourism.”

European travelers have long been fascinated with American Indians, particularly in Germany where there are some 400 clubs devoted to exploring Native Americanculture.  “Tribes are a huge draw at ITB Berlin,” said Staci Eagle Elk, public affairs specialist for AIANTA, which is based in Albuquerque, NM. “There are three busy trade days where tour operators from around the world come to ‘book and buy,’ followed by two public days where thousands of people jam the venue. We hope this exposure creates increased tourism and greater awareness of Indian Nations.”

This marks the third year AIANTA members are taking part in ITB Berlin as a joint effort between AIANTA and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. “Tourism is an avenue to educate the world and our children that our cultures have survived and will thrive into the future,” said Ed Hall in a press release, a Tourism and Transportation Specialist for the BIA who helped found AIANTA. ”The effort with Discover America Pavilion was instrumental in providing Indian Country with a tangible reference point of what the international marketplace has to offer and what it takes for tribes to participate on their own terms. We’re defining the industry and our destinations on the terms of our communities. The empowerment of being in control is also about authenticity of message and information.”

The AIANTA delegation has a series of cultural and arts demonstrations planned for the five-day event, including visits to two local schools.  “One of our goals is to educate mainstream society about Native cultures as a means to overcome barriers, build bridges and share our traditions,” said Eagle Elk.  “It gives us an opportunity to work with diverse groups and share the uniqueness of hundreds of tribes in the United States.”

10 Reasons To Visit Phuket

10 places in Phuket Thailand

The island of Phuket is the South's richest, busiest, most beautiful, most coveted, most visited, and the most popular vacation destination. Often nicknamed as the "pearl of the south" or "pearl of the Andaman," Phuket is the largest island of Thailand, located in the Southern Thailand, on the west-facing Andaman Sea coastline.

Phuket is your destination for limestone cliffs, snow white beaches, tranquil broad bays, and tropical in-land forests. It is famous for a wide range of marine activities, the best accommodation facilities with some of the supreme resort hotels, and elephant rides. It's your paradise for every sort of fun, whether you are looking for a quiet corner to get pleasure from a dreamy holiday retreat or an action packed time bounded by swaying palms, aquamarine seas and stifling sunshine. Certainly, you've a number of reasons to visit the island, but here are top 10 reasons for you.

The scenic beauty of Phuket is one of the major reasons to visit the island. Prompthep Cape is an illustrious beauty spot with great panoramic eye shots. It's a famous vantage point for watching out Phuket's spectacular sunsets.

Phuket's wild life is also a top tourist attraction. Phuket Zoo offers you great opportunity to watch and observe the wildlife and pleasure activities, such as monkey shows, crocodile shows and elephant shows. It's a nice place to picture wildlife in the Phuket zoo, having over 600 species of birds, 100 kinds of reptiles and amphibians, and 45 types of mammals living on its 10 hectares of area.

Buddhist temples are great lures of Thai culture. Wat Chalong, situated in the south of the island behind Chalong Bay, is one of the major attractions of Phuket. It is one of Phuket's biggest Buddhist temples, which is profoundly honored for the effigies of two of its early archimandrites (abbots) who had fabled healing skills. Positioned in the middle of Phuket Island is Wat Phra Thong Temple, also called Golden Buddha Temple. It is home to a huge half-buried Buddha whose fascinating history stretches back centuries.

Phuket Seashell Museum is another reason to visit Phuket. Located on Viset Road, near Rawai Beach, the Phuket museum features the collection of over 2,000 rarities including the only left-handed Noble Volute ever discovered, giant clams, 380 million-year-old fossils, and one of the rarest golden pearls of the world.

On the east side of Phuket Town, Koh Sirey Island (Koh Si Re) is also a great tourist trap. Accessed by a small bridge, the island has ear-shell farms, a few fine beaches, a temple on a hill and a sea gypsy village. Much of the island is hilly and you can drive all around the island in half an hour. Some of the inshore sights are unbelievably beautiful.

For pure entertainment, nothing can beat out Phuket Simon Cabaret, which is a market leader of specialized entertainment since its opening in October 18, 1991. This exciting place is famous for its special, lavish and intimate theater with high-tech sound and the unforgettably enchanting performers.

The Khao Phra Thaeo National Park provides you an opportunity to walk around and to relish the views and sounds of the tropical forest. Sited in the north of the island holding Phuket's last part of virgin rainforest, the Park is nice place to watch the striking waterfalls, and the gibbon rehabilitation centre that aspires to rehabilitate abandoned pet gibbons to the wild.

Located only three kilometers from the town, Phuket Butterfly Garden & Aquarium is a matchless experience for all nature lovers. Here you can watch an enthralling collection of several hundred of the best specimens of tropic butterflies, flying around freely under a huge dome. Its lavish plant life, watercourses, and ponds also provide habitat for a great collection of exotic insects and fish.

Patong Beach is the most illustrious beach resort on Phuket. With its wide variety of activities and nightlife, it is a perfect place to party and play. By night the town has a bustling nightlife that comprises virtually hundreds of eating places, chic lounge bars, beer bars and of course discos.

Tioman Island, Malaysia

Tioman Island is the place you should visit

Located roughly a two hours boat ride away from Peninsular Malaysia is the island of Tioman, a popular tourist destination that needs little introduction. The island was listed as one of the top ten best islands in the world by Time magazine back in the 1970s; and judging from the number of tourists we met on our way there, it seemed that its charm was still going strong. Having said that, it is still somewhat located off the beaten track for most foreign visitors to the country, thus the island still largely retain its rustic kampong (village) feel.
Clear turqoise water just off the shore

Getting to Tioman is relatively comfortable and hassle-free; there are options to complete the journey either by air or sea. The trip by ferry takes about an hour and a half, which can be taken from Mersing or Tanjung Gemuk. Transport can be easily arranged from Kuala Lumpur or Singapore through major bus companies or travel agents, who will also gladly help you arrange for a combo (bus + ferry) ticket. There are several firms running ferry services between Tanjung Gemuk and Tioman, we took one operated by Fast Ferry Ventures. Air transport is the more limited option. Berjaya Air, the only airline flying in and out of Tioman, does regular shuttle flights between Tioman, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

Ferry ride to Tioman Island

There is no lack of accommodation on Tioman; the steady stream of tourists to the island has spurred the development of a number of hotels and resorts. Most of these are moderately priced; but more luxurious alternatives are also available to those who wish to stay in style and comfort.
Tioman is most famous for its good diving sites, reefs, and healthy marine life. The island is also well known for its beautiful white beaches and clear turquoise water. As such, most tourism activities on Tioman can be found along the coastline or in the surrounding waters. Ask the hotel if they can help to pre-arrange diving or snorkeling trips.

A boat similar to the one we chartered

On our visit we chartered a private speed boat and did snorkeling at several sites. It may not be cheap, but was worth every dollar spent. The assortment of marine species was rather impressive; we spotted many types of fish from the tiny clownfish to larger ones that was up to a metre long. The fishes seemed to have gotten used to human presence, as they were not afraid to swim near us or take bread crumbs from our hands. Since the boat is literally ours for the day, we snorkeled at our own leisurely pace, and the boat’s captain (and only crew) was patient with us, explaining the little details of the dive sites; he even did a little diving of his own and picked up a sea cucumber to show us. For casual snorkelers like us however, there are some spots with rather strong currents. In these cases, the captain helped to give some assurance by directing us where exactly is safe to swim. A takeaway lunch on a secluded beach was also arranged as part of the day’s itinerary.

One of the tourist dive boats

A cheaper alternative to renting your own boat is to join one of the bigger tourist boats. These can fit up to twelve passengers and will also bring you to several stops, including the Marine Park near the Tekek village. Note that the Marine Park is essentially a cordoned part of the sea where hundreds if not thousands of fishes are kept. It was so crowded with fishes that it was pretty impossible not bumping into them every few seconds, and the water was murkier than at any other dive sites we visited. Overall, we don’t recommend this particular stop.

Water activities aside, one may also want to spend time exploring the island’s interior, which is littered with small villages and mountainous terrains. Some visitors might also be interested to know that certain stores on the island have duty free status.

Gorgeous sunset scenery
